Signal supports 79th Sri Lanka Dentists Association annual conference

The premier oral care brand of Unilever Sri Lanka, Signal has been synonymous with supporting and sponsoring professional endeavours of the oral care and dental professionals of Sri Lanka for more than three decades.

Reinstating this long-standing relationship, Signal sponsored the Sri Lanka Dentists Association’s (SLDA) 79th annual scientific conference in Colombo recently. SLDA which is one of the oldest medical professional associations in Sri Lanka, from its inception in 1932 has been committed to uplift the expertise of dental care professionals of Sri Lanka.

During the 79th annual conference, Dr. Suresh Shanmuganathan was selected as the President of SLDA and Dr. Wipula Wickramasingha was selected as the Secretary, along with the new executive committee consisting of 15 specialists in dentistry.

Dr. Wickramasinghe issuing a statement during the 79th annual session of the SLDA said, “The SLDA, for its 80th anniversary celebrations is planning to host an international dental and oral care medical symposium in 2013, in Colombo. This will be conducted from 27 June till 1 July.” According to Dr. Wickramasinghe, a few eminent dental care practitioners from The International Dental Professionals Associations and Commonwealth Dental Professionals Association will conduct technical sessions and deliver guest lectures.

Signal was the first brand to introduce fluoridated toothpastes to Sri Lankan consumers. Signal has been responsible for looking after the oral hygiene of Sri Lankan population, looks beyond mere profit objectives and attempts to and supports endeavours by dental care professionals that propagate correct oral care habits and good dental hygiene practices.

Signal Brand Manager Mihira Kulatunga said, “Signal has crossed the border of being just an oral care product on the shop shelf; instead Signal has become the guide and companion of the Sri Lankan consumer that caters to all their dental hygiene needs.”

According to Kulatunga, Signal’s main objective is to secure and preserve the Signature Sri Lankan Smile for many more generations. “To achieve this we work very closely with all parties, be it dentists, consumers, children and other stakeholders. The sponsorship of SLDA annual conference is just one activity of this big initiative.”

All dental care products introduced under the Signal brand name are manufactured under the advice and guidelines stipulated by the World Dentists Federations (FDI) and International Association of Dental Research (IADR).
