Singapore Airlines treats more than 300 beneficiaries to A380 charity flight

Singapore Airlines (SIA) operated its first Charity Flight recently, treating more than 300 beneficiaries to a three-and-a-half hour flight on the world’s largest aircraft, the Airbus A380.

Flight SQ88 departed Singapore Changi Airport at around 1 p.m. and returned to Singapore at around 4:30 p.m. On board were beneficiaries of charitable groups supported by Community Chest of Singapore, ranging in age between one and 89. Also on board were SIA ground staff, cabin crew and pilots, who volunteered to host the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries included children with special needs, adults with disabilities, as well as disadvantaged elderly and families, many of whom had not previously had the opportunity to take a flight. They were treated to the full Singapore Airlines experience.

At the gatehold room, beneficiaries were greeted by Community Chest’s Sharity Elephant mascot, and took photos with volunteer cabin crew and pilots. On board SQ88, beneficiaries enjoyed the KrisWorld inflight entertainment system and a full meal service. Cabin crew entertainers also sang, performed magic tricks and sculpted balloons.
