The fifth annual Singer Mega kid art competition concluded recently with the showcasing of 450 entries displayed at the National Art Gallery in Colombo. This event was an initiative of Singer Mega to foster creativity among children.

The art competition was organised by Singer Mega and conducted at 12 shop locations spanning a period of ten days. During this period, children would visit the Singer Mega shops to work on their entry for the competition.

To encourage creativity by the children, no restrictions were made on topic categories and children were encouraged to use their imaginations to develop their own themes for their pictures. The competition was conducted for children between the age group of four to 12 years. The objective of the project was to encourage kids to creatively express themselves through pictures, as inculcating such behaviour is an important aspect in children’s development.

The competition concluded with 8800 entries that were judged by a panel from the University of Visual and Performing Arts.

A total of 450 winners were selected from the age categories of four to six years, seven to nine years and 10 to 12 year olds who will be awarded gifts and certificates. The 450 winning entries were exhibited at the National Art Gallery Colombo for a public viewing while a similar display of the pictures have also been organised in Kandy.
