The CSR arm of SJMS has once again lent a helping hand to support the educational needs of less privileged students in the rural areas of Damana, Akkaraipattu and Samanthurai.

A series of educational sessions were held on 7 and 8 November at the Muslim Ladies College Samanthurai in the Tamil medium and at Madawalalanda Maha Vidyayala Madawalalanda in the Sinhala medium. Approximately 400 students attended the seminars held in Tamil medium and over 100 students attended the seminars held in Sinhala medium.

The students who attended the seminars in Tamil medium were attached to Al Marjan Muslim Ladies College, Dharussalam Maha Vidyalaya, Sri Korakkar Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Al Arsath Maha Vidyalaya, Vipulanathan Maha Vidyalaya and Muslim Central College.

Students of Madawalalanda Maha Vidyalaya, Pannalagama Maha Vidyalaya, Thibirigolla Vidyalaya and Bakmitiyawa Vidyalaya attended the seminar held in Sinhala medium.

Teachers from Royal College, D.S. Senanayake College and other leading schools voluntarily contributed in enhancing the knowledge of these underprivileged children by acting as the resource personnel. English, Science and Mathematics were taught at these sessions. Model questions and answers were discussed and the students were also advised on how to face the exam with confidence and how to manage the time allocated for the paper.

The students were extremely happy about the program and were confident that they will be able to face the examination well. The students also expressed their appreciation to the SJMS Welfare and CSR Society for arranging these programs in their respective distant areas.
