SLT joins Govt. efforts to eradicate dengue menace

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the leading telecommunications service provider in the country and mindful of setting the mark as a socially responsible corporate citizen, organised dengue prevention programs in the company premises island wide in line with the Government of Sri Lanka’s dengue prevention efforts. Under the leadership and guidance of SLT Group CEO Lalith de Silva, dengue prevention programs were conducted in all SLT premises island wide recently. The program was conducted to align with the Government’s efforts to eradicate dengue via the implementation of island wide dengue prevention/ control campaigns covering all sector offices, schools and public places following the current reports produced by the health sector and the warnings of health authorities that unless controlled, dengue will become an epidemic of national proportions. During SLT’s dengue prevention program, all staff joined together to clear all areas pertaining to the company’s premises to eliminate all possible breeding places of dengue mosquitoes. Lalith de Silva was pleased with the response of employees towards the company’s dengue prevention program and urged all staff to continue to take responsibility and accountability for clearing their work places to ensure the good health of staff, customers as well as the general public in the coming days and weeks ahead and into the future. “Today, we witnessed all staff, irrespective of their ranks, joining together as one family to work towards this cause headed by the Government to eradicate the dengue menace in Sri Lanka. I am pleased with the efforts and the accountability displayed by all staff towards this national cause and together, we will continue our efforts to ensure that our premises and environment are kept clean and healthy at all times,” commented de Silva.
