Sri Lanka Red Cross celebrates 75 years

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest at the 75th Anniversary celebrations event of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society held on 13 February at the BMICH.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Sri Lanka Red Cross occupies a prominent position among local and foreign Non-Governmental Organisations in Sri Lanka.

Minister Rajapaksa opined that it can be mentioned without any hesitation that the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society is the strongest organisation among the local and foreign Non Governmental Organisations that are operative within the country.

In this occasion Minister Rajapaksa awarded this year’s D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Scholarship to Thangaveli Sivadasan, a student from the Chavakachcheri Maha Vidyalaya.

Presidential Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Kumarasiri Hettige and President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Jagath Abeysinghe were among those who graced the occasion.
