MARKSS Healthcare (MARKSS HLC), one of the fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka, in its fifth year of operation, came forth as the sole sponsor for the inaugural Annual Sessions of the College of Medical Administrators of Sri Lanka, a company spokesperson said.

The event marked the presence of the Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest and Minister for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Rajitha Senarathne as the Guest of Honour amidst the presence of a large gathering, celebrating a significant contribution for the health sector in Sri Lanka.

In the present context, there are variety of aspects and disciplines that enrich the health sector. Optimal delivery of healthcare could only be achieved by maintaining perfect harmony between these disciplines and by making accurate decisions on resource allocation.

The professionals who master this tough act are the medical administrators.

The profession of medical administrator may be as old as the oldest hospital of the world that may predate Christ.

However, it is only in the past decade or so that the extreme importance of this discipline became more and more apparent and evident.

A professional, scientific and an economical approach to medical administration has become more important.

Today’s administrator has to achieve economy, efficiency and effectively with absolutely no compromise on continuous improvement in quality of healthcare.

Managing Director MARKSS HLC Rajiv Nanayakkara reiterated: “It is not only unique for MARKSS to solely sponsor this event, but also remarkable to be associated with such an elite college of professionals who’s importance is only on the increase.”

Highlighting the importance of the new association between MARKSS and College of Medical Administrators, Dr. S. Mahakalanda, Medical Director, MARKSS HLC said: “MARKSS will be remembered in the history of healthcare in Sri Lanka as the proud partners of the inaugural Sessions of the College. We consider that it is not only to MARKSS’s delight to be able to support such a significant and an important aspect of healthcare but also it is MARKSS’ social responsibility and duty of care.”

Achieving this task is what the College of Administrators have envisioned themselves upon, which was the key message of Dr. Anil Jasinghe during his speech, the Inaugural President of the College.

The keynote was delivered by Minister Sirisena who emphasised the importance of the medical administrators’ role in managing medical supplies adequately.

He detailed the shortcomings in this area that hinders optimal delivery of health services and further emphasised the importance of this aspect of becoming a pertinent point in the medical administrators’ agenda.
