Surprising act of social welfare from Catwalk Textile, Matara

Catwalk Textile Palace of Matara, has taken the history of Sri Lanka’s social service activities to an entirely new dimension. They have made the necessary arrangements to donate a whole plethora of gifts to low-income families with more than five children. Catwalk Textile Palace, will donate to those families a whole range of domestic necessities to the weight of the mother of such a family. These lavish gifts include domestic appliances, clothes and dresses and dry rations. This unprecedented treat will occur on 26 November.

Parallel to this super-gift scheme, clothes and school requirements will be donated to 200 children selected from low income families. These children will be selected from 40 schools in Matara District. Five children will be selected from each of those 40 chosen schools.

A special feature of this gift scheme is the conferring of educational scholarships, to exceptionally gifted children, until they complete their Advance Levels.

That’s not all. Parallel to this social welfare program a whole series of projects will be initiated for the wellbeing of war heroes who have been disabled due to combat.

Describing this welfare scheme Catwalk Fashion House Head Eric Janaka states, “From the time we initiated our business enterprise, we contributed towards social welfare activities on all occasions we could. We continued this welfare scheme over several years at a well-organised level, elevating it to a project of national importance. We have launched this social service project under the title ‘Reaching humanity beyond cash’, along with our staff of employees. These welfare activities are directed towards the wellbeing of little children, low-income families and towards those disabled war heroes who sacrificed their lives to the country and the nation. We deem this social welfare service as a great duty.”

Continuing Eric Janaka said, “There is something that should be invariably stated here. We set aside part of our business profits for these welfare activities. In consequence all the clients linked to this institution automatically become subscribers to this noble welfare scheme. It is a great act of merit. I make this opportunity to thank all those who are linked to our project. I thank them, because we could have never got the opportunity to launch such a massive welfare scheme without our clients.
