Swadeshi renovates Sri Dalada Maligawa and Dambadeni Raja Maha Viharaya

Swadeshi renovates the Sri Dalada Maligawa and ancient murals of the historic Dambadeni Raja Maha Viharaya. Sri Lanka’s foremost and pioneering herbal-personal care products manufacturer The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, Kandana engaged in yet another CSR program of national importance. The ‘Sri Dalada Maligawa’ where the sacred tooth relic was kept and ancient murals of the historic Dambadeni Raja Maha Viharaya were renovated by Swadeshi to bring back its past glory. The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC Chairperson/Managing Director Amari Wijewardene graced the occasion of reopening this restored sacred place of worship. Swadeshi Industries has engaged in this endeavor under the stringent supervision and direction by the archeology department. Modern high cost technology was used to restore the historic murals of this ancient place of worship and extensive repair work was done to the Dalada Maligawa without damaging the original structure. The historic Dambadeni Rajamaha Viharaya is much respected as the place where the most respected cultural pageant of the country; Sri Dalada Perehera was first held. King Parakramabahu the second who ruled the third kingdom of Sri Lanka, Dambadeniya had commissioned Dambadeni Rajamaha Viharaya. The king had then started conducting the Dalada Perehera in respect of the sacred tooth relic which was housed at this location for 13 long years.

Swadeshi Khomba Aloka Puja Sathkaraya

Illuminating places of worship with historic value is yet another CSR program being conducted by Swadeshi Industries over a period of 15 years under the theme; ‘Swadeshi Khomba Aloka Puja Sathkaraya’. The Swadeshi Industrial Chairperson/Managing Director Amari Wijewardene said the company being a hundred percent Sri Lankan owned entity considers safeguarding the culture and heritage of the country by engaging in activities of this nature, a duty and also a debt it owes towards mother Sri Lanka. She said Swadeshi illuminates places of worship in the country for the benefit and ease of all worshippers and also with the intention of educating younger generation on the importance of safeguarding the country’s culture and heritage. She further observed, with the renovation project carried out recently at the historic Dambadeni Rajamaha Viharaya, Swadeshi has ventured into yet another honourable cause which is restoring places of cultural, historic and religious importance in the country. Wijewardene is the great granddaughter of Helena Wijewardene Lamatheni, who initiated renovations of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya in 1927. The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC contributes towards development of the country’s economy by way of introducing hundred percent locally manufactured products using world’s best raw-materials.
