Toyota Lanka holds dream car art contest workshop for Settikulam IDP camp children

Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited being a member of Toyota Group Japan having launched its sixth International Toyota Dream Car Art Contest which is held for the first time in Sri Lanka held an art workshop recently for the children of the Kadiragarmar Camp for internally displaced children of Settikulam, Vavuniya, under the patronage of the United Peoples’  Freedom Alliance organiser for Killinochchi, Geetanjali Ganguleshwaram.

Veteran visual artist, renowned photographer and External Lecturer of Image and Visual Arts of the Kelaniya University, Indranatha Thenuwara, conducted this workshop and imparted his knowledge on painting and arts at this workshop, by guiding Kids to draw their dream car using various methods. Commenting on this workshop which was conducted by Toyota Lanka for the displaced children, Chief Operating Officer of Toyota Lanka, Manohara Atukorala stated, “We consider it as a privilege for our Company to hold this workshop for these displaced Children parallel to our Dream Car Art competition, as by this we were able to extend a helping hand to the artistic talents possessed by them. This workshop also was able to link these displaced children into our Dream Car Art Competition. We felt that even though we gave immense publicity to this campaign children of these areas could have not got the opportunity to participate due to the lack of opportunity and thus reveal their talents to the world would be missed by them.

Therefore, we approached them to enhance their drawing skills and seek their in participation in the contest, because it is the belief and policy of Toyota that all children irrespective of gender, race or standard of living should be able to take part in the Dream Car Art Contest.”

Prematilleka, Major Kapila Liyanage, Deputy Assistant Manager –  HR of Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited Amal Leitan, Senior Service  Engineer of Toyota Lanka (Private Limited) Gayan Gunatillake, and Managing Director of Minlo Media Advertising Company, Damitha Wickramasinghe  were among the distinguished guests who graced the occasion.
