The United Nations International Day of Solidarity with Palestine was held on 27 November at the Hector Kobbekaduwa centre, Colombo. Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine Co-Chairpersons Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne and former Minister Imtiaz Bakeer Markar presided and a public talk was delivered by former diplomat, writer and social activist Dr. Dayan Jayatileke. Chief Guest Senior Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana and Guest of Honour Ambassador for the State of Palestine participated at this event. Israel destroyed the state of Palestine and murdered and butchered thousands of innocent Palestinian men, women and children for the last 65 years. Palestine, the land of Palestinians, is located in the heart of the Middle East and Jerusalem where Masjid A l Aqsa, Islam’s first Mosque Qibla is located and has been its capital since time immemorial.  The Palestinians were alarmed and worried at the rapidly growing number of violence-prone migrant Jews who started provoking the Palestine Arabs in their own country. The reason why the State of Israel exists today, why millions of Palestinian Arabs are refugees is that, for 35 years immigration was imposed on Palestine. Pix by: Ashraff A. Samad
