Virtusa partners CEA for e-Waste Management

Electronic waste or e-waste is a growing environmental problem in the world. Some electronic equipment contains substances such as mercury, lead, cadmium, antimony, beryllium, and brominated flame retardants.

Through the partnership Virtusa plans to attain an active partnership role with the Central Environmental Authority contributing for environment conservation.

The e-Waste Management project is part of Virtusa’s Code Green initiative and is run in collaboration with the Central Environmental Authority.

Its aim is to encourage Virtusans to manage the disposal of e-waste in a responsible manner. Chairman and CEO Kris Canekeratne inaugurated Virtusa’s e-waste Management during his visit to Sri Lanka.

To ensure an e-waste free environment in Sri Lanka, the Central Environment Authority (CEA) together with over a dozen business organisations who are operating in home electronics, information technology, telecommunications industries and waste management service providers have launched an electronic waste management project to eradicate the growing e-waste crisis in Sri Lanka.
