Avurudu 2015 proved extra special for dozens of travellers on buses departing Colombo for Anuradhapura and Matara during this festive time of year, as a spectacular Shree FM Avurudu Promo resulted in every single person travelling on these two buses receiving what they wished for during this Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
A first in Sri Lanka, this promo started with a team from Shree FM asking every single passenger on two morning buses leaving Colombo what gift he or she wished they could get during this Avurudu season. From TVs, washing machines, refrigerators and sewing machines, to bicycles and clothes, and even laptops and mobile phones, every single item wished for by the occupants of these two lucky buses, a value of more than Rs. 1 million, was waiting for them when they arrived in Anuradhapura and Matara just a few short hours later.
Commenting on this first-in-Sri Lanka Avurudu Promo, Shree FM Assistant Program Director Chathura Wijerathne said, “We wanted to create an immediate sense of wish fulfilment for people that, during Avurudu, make that extra effort to travel long distances to their homes and families. Not only is what we have done unheard of locally but, and more importantly, we feel we have rekindled the potential magic of Avurudu for many of our listeners.”
Adding to this, EBC Radio Network Chief Operating Officer Chalaka Gajabahu said, “Not only was this innovative promo a first in Sri Lanka but it also truly captured the spirit of Avurudu for all who participated.
