Orphans in Need (UK) registered leading charity organisation and Sri Lankan implementing agency Al-Ihsan Trust Sri Lanka gave 1,000 families one-month supply of dry rations at Dematagoda Al-Hijra School premises on 22 January 2017.

Al-Ihsan Trust Sri Lanka Director Nisthar Anees and Al-Ihsan Chairman Dr. Harisdeen distributed these packs to widowed families in many parts of the country including the Eastern Province.

Orphans in Need provides food parcels to help widows and orphans affected by poverty. A food parcel is a valuable lifeline when a family loses the man of the house to an accident, disease or even murder. How else would a widow feed herself and her family when she has no money and no resources? There are many widows in Sri Lanka.

For your average weekly shopping bill, one can feed a family of five for an entire month.

Each pack generally contains: Rice, flour, oil, lentils, pulses, spices, tea, sugar, vegetables, dates, soap and sanitation products.
