Brandix Group Managing Director Hasitha Premaratne, and RMIT University Recruitment Manager – Sri Lanka Thilanka Chethiyawardana exchange agreement

Brandix Corporate Campus (BCC), Sri Lanka’s premier institution for apparel and textile education, has formalised a strategic partnership with RMIT University, Australia, to offer students a seamless pathway to advanced global education. Through this collaboration, BCC students enrolled in specific programs can transition to RMIT’s campuses in Australia or Vietnam upon completion of coursework at BCC. This partnership opens the door for students to obtain internationally recognised degrees, providing them with an edge in the competitive global apparel and textile industry.

This collaboration is specifically designed for students enrolled in the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Apparel and Textile (ADFAT) at BCC. Upon completing this program, students have the opportunity to continue their studies at RMIT University, a globally recognised institution ranked 10th in Australia in the QS Global University Rankings for its excellence in design, technology, and innovation.

Through this partnership, students can enrol in the Bachelor of Fashion Enterprise program at RMIT, with the first of the three-year degree program exempted for those who have completed the two- year ADFAT programme at BCC. This arrangement not only facilitates seamless academic progression, but also enriches the student experience by offering them the chance to immerse themselves in diverse cultural and academic environments, broadening their personal and professional horizons.

Brandix Managing Director Hasitha Premaratne said: “Sri Lanka and Brandix was always at the forefront of the global apparel industry, and through the Brandix Corporate Campus we present our youth a platform to expand their skills to drive the next phase of growth and evolution. Our partnership with RMIT University brings significant value and stands testimony to our broader commitment to grow Sri Lankan talent and propel them on to the world stage.”

The flexibility offered through this agreement is particularly beneficial for Sri Lankan students, providing them with the opportunity to choose between studying at RMIT’s campuses in Australia or Vietnam. This geographical choice allows students to align their academic journey with their personal preferences and career aspirations, with Australia allowing students to immerse themselves in a dynamic and cosmopolitan environment, while Vietnam offers a more affordable option with access to a robust apparel and textile industry. Upon successful completion of their studies at RMIT, graduates will receive degrees from a globally renowned institution, increasing their employability in the international job market and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position within the global apparel and textile sectors.

School of Fashion and Textiles Dean Prof. Alice Payne said, “We are delighted to partner with Brandix to support the development of the future industry workforce and leaders.” This partnership also brings significant benefits to the Sri Lankan apparel industry. The growing global demand for highly skilled professionals in fashion, apparel, and textile technology makes this collaboration particularly timely. By equipping BCC students with access to global academic pathways, Sri Lanka’s apparel sector will benefit from a new generation of professionals with enhanced technical skills, international exposure, and a broader understanding of global market trends. This influx of well-trained professionals will contribute to the continued development and competitiveness of the Sri Lankan apparel industry, ensuring that it remains a key player in the global market.
