The annual graduation of the class of 2024 of Jade International School was held at the BMICH on 9 July 2024. It is one of the most celebrated events in the academic calendar of the school. The ceremony this year witnessed the graduation of a class of 45 students in the presence of teaching faculty, parents and a host of well-wishers.
The glittering event this year was attended by a large number of family and friends of the graduating class of 2024.
The chief guest at this occasion was Kapruka PLC Chairman Dulith Herath and British Council Country Director Orlando Edwards was the keynote speaker.
Chief Guest Dulith Herath mentioned, “Graduating in today’s digital age opens up unprecedented opportunities. As someone who has built a career in e-commerce, I can tell you that the skills you’ve developed here at Jade International—adaptability, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking—are exactly what today’s world demands. In a world where change is the only constant, the ability to innovate and persevere will set you apart. I congratulate each of you and encourage you to explore boldly, create fearlessly, and make a meaningful impact in all you do.”
Keynote speaker Orlando said: “Today’s graduates enter a world that is more connected and collaborative than ever, and I am honoured to join this celebration on behalf of the British Council. As young leaders, you hold the potential to foster global understanding, mutual respect, and innovative solutions to today’s challenges. The world needs individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also globally minded and culturally aware. I congratulate the class of 2024 and look forward to witnessing the remarkable achievements you will bring to the global stage.”
Jade International School Founder Siraj Hanes in his message turned to the graduating class and said that they have demonstrated resilience, leadership, and academic distinction, making the school incredibly proud. “At Jade International School, we strive to go beyond traditional education by focusing on skill-based learning. This approach prepares students for real-world challenges, equipping them with critical thinking, creativity, and empathy to succeed in an interconnected world. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to the positive impact these graduates will have, embodying the values and vision of Jade International School.” He also wished the graduating class of 2024 all success in their future.
The valedictorian of the class of 2024, Shekinah Gracious delivered an inspiring speech which challenged the graduating class to make a difference as they step out to the world.
The outgoing Head Prefect Yuresha Perera also delivered a speech thanking parents and teachers for their unconditional support and encouragement over the years.
The graduation ceremony concluded with Gaindee Sumethma singing, as tribute to parents, which received resounding applause from the audience.
