SLIIT’s Faculty of Humanities and Sciences provides students an opportunity to realise a lifelong ambition and gain a recognised qualifications in Nursing and Psychology.
BSc (Hons) Nursing (Affiliated with LJMU, UK)
Upon completion of a three-year Higher Diploma in Nursing, students have access to a one-year Bachelor of Science (Hons) Nursing top-up program affiliated with the LJMU, UK and successfully progress to become an internationally recognised registered nurse.
Modules relevant to the contemporary practice of Nursing including Human Anatomy, Microbiology and Parasitology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Paediatric Nursing and Women Nursing are delivered through a theoretical and practical approach.
Students have access to an ideal clinical setting at Browns Hospital, Ragama in addition to a fully-equipped state-of-the-art laboratory for training in for Nursing Skills, Anatomy and Nutrition. Such a setup provides an enhanced and unique learning experience for students to master basic procedures prior to practicing on patients in a real clinical setting.
Entry requirements include passes in three subjects in the Science stream at the G.C.E Advanced Level examinations (Local or London or equivalent) obtained at one sitting, obtaining a pass in an aptitude test conducted by SLIIT and undergoing an interview conducted by the institute’s academic panel attached to the School of Nursing, of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences.
BSc (Hons) Psychology (Affiliated with LJMU, UK)
The Higher Diploma in Psychology offered by the faculty is a two-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Psychology in affiliation with LJMU, UK. The program provides students with the critical understanding and analysis of human behaviour, thought and emotions. Successful completion of this qualification provides students with the ability to pursue innumerable professional fields in the area of General Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Counselling, etc.
Students can venture into professions such as Business Psychologist, HRM Consultant, HR Researcher, Marketing Strategist, Brand Consultant, General Occupations, Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, etc.
To be eligible for the program the students need a pass in three subjects at the G.C.E Advanced Level Examinations (Local or London or equivalent) obtained at sitting in any stream and a pass in the Aptitude Test conducted by SLIIT.
BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (Affiliated with LJMU, UK)
Tailored to meet the needs of employers and an ideal opportunity for school leavers, SLIIT also offers a three-year BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying degree awarded by LJMU, UK.
The program is offered by the Department of Quantity Surveying in the Faculty of Engineering. It offers students a unique opportunity to collaborate with their foreign counterparts and academics in addition to the wider knowledge shared by leading academics and Quantity Surveying practitioners from Sri Lanka.
The degree can also be obtained as a top-up degree for those who are already practicing in the industry and with an accepted HND/Edexel/NVQ level six or equivalent qualification for entry eligibility.
