The Old Boys’ Union of St. Peter’s College recently launched the ‘Peterite Connect’ platform at the Sr. Flora Memorial Hall amidst a gathering of alumni and distinguished invitees.
This initiative is one of the key projects of the Old Boys’ Union (OBU) as part of the centenary year celebrations of the college.
The prime objective of this unique initiative is to enable collaboration among alumni across multiple segments of professional and business relationships. It is envisaged that Peterites located across the globe can now network, collaborate, learn and grow through a well-structured platform. The Peterite Connect platform will use a combination of online tools and physical gatherings in order to help the alumni in its professional development and networking efforts. The Peterite Connect initiative will also create a positive impact to present schoolboys in college through the development of their ‘soft skills’ which are pivotal for both life in general and professional endeavours.
St. Peter’s College with a rich history of 100 years as a leading catholic educational institution in the country has produced alumni that have excelled in many spheres during their careers and continues to be role models for the future generation.
St. Peter’s College Rector Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo said that the Peterite Connect is launched by the OBU at a time where professionals need to connect and collaborate more than ever before. I am pleased to see this initiative being a reality as part of our Centenary Year Celebrations.
Old Boys’ Union President Ravika De Silva said that the Peterite Connect took many months of planning and effort since they wanted to engage the alumni living across the world to get their ideas and feedback. “Initially we will be focusing on 20 professional clusters with a variety of networking events, professional development programs and webinars. Through the Peterite Connect website and mobile application, Peterite professionals can now reach out to each other in a matter of seconds,” he said.
“To launch an initiative of this nature one should have a long-term vision with a sustainability driven mindset. After much hard work and commitment from the entire Peterite alumni community we can be proud of what has been achieved,” Peterite Connect Vice Chairman and OBU Vice President Sanjeewa Abeygoonewardena said.
“This project will also help us recognise Peterite alumni who have brought honour to our nation and alma mater thereby, inspiring the entire Peterites community,” he added.
