T h e I n s t i t u t e o f Chemistry – Ceylon recently took another positive step in making Lankan Chemists globally employable by inviting Truman State University Missouri USA, International Admissions Coordinator, Alexa Price, to address its students who are keen on transferring to the U.S. to complete the last two years of study, usually with attractive scholarships. Once students complete the B.S. in Chemistry, they now have the opportunity to gain 36 months o f wo rk e x p e r i e n c e under the new regulations for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors or to proceed to graduate school to earn a Masters or Doctoral degree. More than 50% of Truman’s students pursue graduate studies or professional programs after receiving their undergraduate degree. Truman State has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the No. 1 Public University in Midwest for the last 19 consecutive years. Price’s visit coincided with the opening of the new website of the Institute. Scholarships for USA Ltd (SUSA) coordinated Price’s visit as the Truman’s local representative. Since ‘07 SUSA has worked closely with ICHEM in introducing and promoting it to SUSA’s U.S. partners.
