An initiative by Edulink Campus ‘Experience labs’ is an exciting new space spearheaded by the institute with the aim of inspiring students to harness their entrepreneurship skills and to provide them with a vibrant, nurturing environment for learning and innovation as well as to generate ample opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Experience Labs recently provided students with the exciting opportunity to take part in ‘Innovest UnBound’ hosted by NUS Enterprise and unBound Media together with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. This took place at Marina Bay Sands, attracting over 3,000 people from around the world. Innov Festun Bound consisted of a week-long series of events that showcased Asia’s most innovative developments in the media-tech sphere.
The event comprised of BASH (Build Amazing start-ups Here), which is Singapore’s biggest integrated start-ups space with the capability of congregating members and partners of the tech building community across the entire value chain of ideation, acceleration, incubation to expansion from accelerators, investors, incubators to entrepreneurship all under one roof.
It also consisted of The Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). Here the students were exposed to Bio systems and Micromechanics that deal with the development of new technologies that address critical medical and biological questions applicable to a variety of diseases.
In addition they learned about Low Energy Electronic Systems, which identify new integrated circuit technologies that has become the new added value for reduced energy per function, lower power consumption and higher performance in electronics infrastructure and also gained insights on Future Urban Mobility that develops new paradigms for the planning, design, and operation of future urban passenger and freight transportation systems that enhance sustainability.
This intensive startup environment provided the young student entrepreneurs to not only benefit from the mentors and coaches whom they met at the programme but to also mingle with investors and meet clients and promote collaboration and partnershipswith them .
A spokesperson for Edulink stated, “We believed that ‘Innovest UnBound’ will be an ideal place for our student entrepreneurs to gather and exchange knowledge and develop ideas and solutions to seal deals. We felt that they would immensely benefit from these programs and return to our shores with innovative ideas that can work, which in turn will help to nurture their future “.
The spokesperson for Edulink added, “With Sri Lanka’s plans to builds itself into an IT HUB in the future, it is imperative for us to groom promising students by teaching and giving them the foresight to seize new opportunities to innovate.
We believe that initiatives of this nature is the ideal way to help students enhance their innovative and entrepreneurial skills and we at Edulink are interested to play a key part in harnessing such talents for our country, which was the thought process behind launching Experience Labs.7.”
