As a part of on-going ‘150 years of celebrating the Mahatma’ and to commemorate Children’s Day which falls on 14 November every year coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (ICC), High Commission of India, Colombo will organise Shankar’s International Children’s Competition on Saturday, 17 November from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at SVCC, 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07. Children from all over the island are welcome to participate in painting/drawing/writing competition.
As we celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who demonstrated, propagated and insisted for individual and community cleanliness throughout his life the topic for essay writing/drawing/painting for the competitions will be ‘Cleanliness is Godliness’. The Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2019, in the categories of writing/painting/drawing, is open to children born on or after 1 January 2003. All the entries done by the children will be sent to New Delhi for the Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2019.
Children who are interested in participating may register their names with the Centre (Tel. 011-2684698, Telefax 2684697, e-mail [email protected]) and are requested to come to ICC at 9 a.m. on 17 November.
To commemorate the special occasion #BapuAt150, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Colombo will give away special prizes to the three best entries in each category and the winners will be awarded at a special occasion.
