He composes songs to promote awareness on important social issues, tribute songs to world leaders, music that combines East West rhythms (where eastern Ragas meet western scatting to a Sri Lankan tune), always with unique harmonies and arrangements, entertaining acapellas, big band arrangements, and his unique talent that still needs to go on the Guinness Book of World Records – his famous “harmony whistle”.

Ladies College Intermediate Choir will be showcased with Rukshan’s composition that won the Gold at the Asia Pacific Choir Games. This is Rukshan’s eighth annual concert not to be missed on the 21st of this month at Bishop’s College Auditorium.

Rukshan’s concerts are always for a deserving charity and this year it is in aid of Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan to help eight children’s projects: Lama Piyasa – a home for abused children, Sith Sevena – a home for mentally challenged children, vocational program to teach English, IT and oriental/ballet dance classes, Child Friendly Police Station – building a new facility for children to give evidence at the police station, Sunshine Games – bringing 1000 differently abled children for a day of sports activity, Community Concerns – to help the oppress and needy children with their day to day lives, Wasgamuwa Preschool – supporting the preschool with their needs. The Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan supports more than a dozen projects every year and these are only a few examples of their children’s projects.

It’s a unique show for a good cause to help our children in need. You can purchase your tickets at Bishop’s College and Fashion Optics at Flower road. Call for information call 0773057220 or 0770073684.
