The finals of ‘The CBB Annual Inter School Drama Competition’ will be held on 15 October at 6 p.m. with four leading schools, representing both the public and the private schools competing.
The competition will be held at the Bishop’s College Auditorium under the patronage of Finlays Colombo Managing Director Hunter Crawford and will see St. Bridget’s Convent – Colombo, Mahinda College – Galle, St. Peter’s College – Colombo and Loyola College – Negombo competing.
The above schools competed with a total of 18 schools in the preliminary round to enter the finals, which was a tough competition, as all the teams competed fiercely.
“I was pleasantly surprised at the high standard of all the plays done by the schools. As a judge, the difficulty I had was trying to figure out which schools should go into the finals. I hope this high standard is maintained and keeps improving,” says Indu Dharmasena – Semi Finals judge. The event organised by the Council for Business with Britain in association with the British Council aims to raise funds for an ongoing English Language Teacher Training Programme, to help rural schools in Sri Lanka.
The annual drama competition also gives an opportunity for the student community to take part in an innovative, creative and stimulating theatrical experience, for a worthy cause. The main sponsor for the event is Finlays Colombo and is supported by Norfolk Foods, Senevi Printers, Hilton Colombo Residences, Drama SL, Edinborough Foods, Subway, Varna and Paan Paan. Tickets are available with Cherryl/Rasangika at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, 50 Nawam Mawatha, Colombo 2 priced at Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500.
