equipped with thrift and savings, the bank is organising the ‘NSB Páta Páta Hapankam’ art competition for the fourth time this year with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education. The competition will be conducted as a build up to the 95th World Thrift Day which falls on 31 October.
World Thrift Day is an event created to increase the public’s awareness of the importance of savings both for modern economies and for individuals alike. Savings is important in the global economy and every depositor contributes to its development.
The theme of this year’s thrift day is ‘savings gives a lift to your life’ a timely concept needed by many in the era of materialism. As the only Sri Lankan bank to have the membership of the World Savings & Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) and being the leading specialised savings bank in the nation, NSB enjoys being number one local brand and financial solution provider when it comes to thrift and saving.
Inculcating the habit of thrift and saving from an early age is a proven strategy used by developed countries because of its clear relationship to economic development. The objective of the NSB Páta Páta Hapankam art competition is quite the same which encourages our next generation to express their views and ideas via a painting which can say a thousand words at a glance. Due to its past success, the competition has become a trending topic inside schools and a permanent fixture in the calendar of emerging artists.
A painting is a reflection of one’s spirituality; NSB is reaching out to our young generation with an open mind giving them the opportunity to express their feelings in their own way through a painting. The aim of the NSB Páta Páta Hapankam art competition is to encourage the children to practice the good habit of thrift and savings in their day-to-day life and to let them see the impact it can have in the national economy and as a country as a whole.
The NSB Páta Páta Hapankam art competition provides an opportunity for the schoolchildren to showcase their talent as the next generation of artists who are capable of bringing glory to Sri Lanka. Also, the winners at the National level and the Provincial level will be recognised with valuable cash prizes, gift parcels and certificates. If the winners are having NSB Hapan Children’s Savings Account with an account balance of Rs. 5,000 or more then the cash award will get doubled. The participants of the competition will receive a participatory certificate from NSB branches. Schoolchildren of Government schools, private and international schools can forward their painting to the competition.
The award ceremony of the NSB Páta Páta Hapankam art competition 2019 will be held on 31 October as a part of the national thrift day celebration by NSB at the BMICH.
