Evening of Qawwali, Naths and Muslim music today

The Muslim Choral Ensemble better known to their audience as Aswatuna together with Shahid Shabaz a member of their South Asian Ensemble will present an evening of songs from the Muslim world to be held on Wednesday 4 April at the Empire Ballroom, Mount Lavinia Hotel from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The performance will comprise a collection of Muslim songs with a promise to an enthralling evening of Sufi music, a genre that is most significant to the mystical fraternities, for whom music and song, next to prayer, are means toward a connection between God and man. Traditional Islamic songs encompass sounds and influences from Arabic Qasida, Nasheed, Qawwali Naats and this eclectic collection brought to you by the Ensemble includes renditions from the Indian subcontinent.
