Galle Face Hotel recently announced a culinary and cultural evening to be held on 5 July, in which all proceeds of its silent auction will be donated to the Kochchikade Church.
The dinner and opera evening is organised by Galle Face Hotel in partnership with Turkish Airlines in an attempt to help contribute to the renovations of Kochchikade Church which was reopened after the Easter Sunday attacks on 12 June. The event will take place on 5 July from 7 p.m. onwards in the Jubilee Ballroom, with pre-show refreshments including canapés served from 6:30 p.m.
Items for the silent auction are an ‘Overnight and Dinner at 1864’ with one night including breakfast and dinner for two at restaurant 1864, ‘Weekend at EKHO Lake House’ with two night including breakfast and dinner for two, and a ‘Private Dinner Party for 6’ prepared by Executive Chef Jay. The winning bid is to be announced during the final proceedings of the show.
“When you live in a country it is very important to give back. This country has been very important to me and this is my home now and, we are doing this to help Sri Lanka. It’s not enough to do it for the money, we have to help our people,” said Sri Lankan-based International Performer Barbara Segal explaining the motives behind the evening.
International performers at the opera night will be Bel Canto Artist and Stage Director Carlos Conde-Gonzalez, Tenor Benito Rodrigues, Musical Director Deloitte Choir and the City Lit Opera School Peter Crockford and Sri Lankan-based Guest Lecturer in Voice Barbara Segal. Founder Menaka Singers Opera Ensemble and Local Performer Menaka De Fonseka Sahabandu will also be present at the event.
Tickets at Rs. 6, 500 net per person for the concert, four-course dinner, with wines and soft beverages, will be on sale at Galle Face Hotel.
