Zaithoon Bin Ahamed
While the COVID-19 pandemic may have put many plans on hold, it certainly gave rise to creativity and has paved the way for new authors to publish their work.
‘Love & Miracles’ by Zaithoon Bin Ahamed is one such publication, a collection of poetry and short stories, which hit Sri Lanka’s bookshelves earlier this month.
The book is a collection of writings over the years, which include a compilation of memoirs, anecdotes, and thoughts around life, love, passion, heartache and death.
“I’m excited to finally see my very first book in print. This has been in the works for some time, and the pandemic gave back time for me to focus on this passion project. It certainly won’t be the last and I’m looking forward to writing more,” says Zaithoon.
The book comprises a series of poetry, prose, and song that describe life experiences and two short stories that highlight the emotional rollercoaster of life.
In her Foreword, Silverine Muller notes: “Her carefully articulated words kept me mesmerized and captivated. At one point, my surroundings had faded away and left me with a throbbing sound of my heartbeat. This was the impact of her writing on me. They no doubt connected me with my own life experiences, and perhaps they will connect with yours.”
