The senior cultural dancing troupe of Lyceum International School (Panadura) participated in the World Mask Dance Festival and Competition which was held recently in South Korea. The international cultural dance event was attended by participants from over 12 countries including Israel, Japan, China, Malaysia, etc. who exhibited items unique to their culture and traditions.
The dancing troupe of Lyceum consisting of 17 students (ages 14-17 years) exhibited several beautifully choreographed traditional Sri Lankan dance items including Kolam (Panikkale) and Naga Kaniya. The junior students group won the Bronze medal for the Kolam dance item. This is indeed a great achievement for the students and the school.
The management of the Lyceum group of schools places special emphasis on ensuring that students reach high academic excellence and English language proficiency while maintaining their cultural and traditional heritage. The participation and excellent performance of the cultural dancing troupe at this international event bears testimony to the talents and skills of the students as well as the commendable guidance provided by the trainers and teachers.
