The Mount Lavinia Hotel has announced an extraordinary event that will transport guests to the golden era of music.

On 23 November, the internationally acclaimed band Arrival from Sweden: The Music of ABBA will perform live, promising an unforgettable night of music, nostalgia, and pure entertainment.

The journey leading up to this iconic show was an exciting and collaborative effort.

Mount Lavinia Hotel COO Anura Dewapura said: “We have been coordinating this for six months, and it’s all coming together beautifully. This isn’t just any ABBA tribute; it’s the full 17-member band performing for the first time in Sri Lanka. They’ve toured over 80 countries and performed in the UK 120 times. I had the privilege of watching them in Sweden, and I’m excited for Sri Lankans to have the same breathtaking experience.”

In a bold move, Dewapura aims to deliver an authentic open-air concert experience. “We want to feel the real atmosphere,” he said. “Even though some of my staff are urging me to set up tents, I’m leaning toward letting the rain add to the excitement. Let’s see what nature has in store for us.”

Organising an event of this magnitude comes with its challenges. “From logistics and sound systems to raising millions of rupees in funds, it hasn’t been easy,” Dewapura admitted. “But as they say, winners never quit. We’ve ensured top-notch security with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army, so our guests can focus on enjoying the night.”

The hotel is also gearing up for a spectacular festive season, promising unique attractions such as the tallest Christmas tree on 1 December. “It’s all part of creating a magical atmosphere for our guests,” Dewapura added.

The excitement extends beyond the hotel. Rupavahini Corporation Chairman Senesh Bandara, expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “We have deployed senior teams across all departments—from technical and administrative to legal and marketing—to make this event a resounding success.”

Under Sri Lanka’s enchanting tropical skies, the concert on 23 November from 8.00 p.m. onwards is set to be a spectacular celebration of unity and pure joy. This outdoor event will fuse the magic of world-class music with the island’s irresistible vibe. With digital tickets ensuring smooth entry and 3,000 seats ready for an electrifying crowd, it’s poised to be an unforgettable night of music and memories.
