The State Awards Ceremony for Tamil Artists 2019, which recognises contributions to traditional and modern arts by Tamil Sri Lankans, was held at the Nelum Pokuna auditorium recently. The event was organised by the Ministry of National Integration, Official Languages, Social Progress and Hindu Religious Affairs and the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs. Veteran television broadcaster and artiste S. Vishvanathan was conferred with the title of ‘Kalaimaamani’ by Minister Mano Ganesan for his contributions in the fields of art, culture and media over more than four decades.
