The recently-rebranded Savoy Cinemas (formerly EAP Films and Theatres) secured the official distribution of Sri Lanka’s first-ever 3D movie in Sinhala, ‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne.
Produced by H.D Premasiri, ‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ is scheduled to be released in May at over 75 theatres islandwide and promises to provide a thrilling experience for its audiences.
‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ is based on the novel of the same title by late author W. A. Silva and the screenplay was done by late Tissa Abeysekera. The star-studded cast recently wrapped up shooting of the film and a 30-member team is working on the film post production work using 3D technology under the supervision of 360 productions by Buddha Wijayaratne and Samna Wathawannavithanage.
Hemal Ranasinghe, Senali Fonseka, Ashan Dias and Chulakshi Ranatunga play key roles in the film. Rohana Weerasinghe directed the music in ‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ while Boodee Keerthisena supervised special effects. The cinematographer for the film was Channa Deshapriya while Wimal Deshapriya was the Assistant Director. D. Ranjith Kuma worked as the production coordinator on the set.
Backed by local and international investors from UK, Singapore and Malaysia, Ben Holdings which recently acquired EAP Films and Theatres plan to introduce Sri Lankan movie goers to an exceptional viewing experience. Obtaining exclusive distribution rights to the first-ever 3D creation in Sri Lankan cinema is yet another step in this direction.
