Ceylon Theatres proudly presents the Chennai Express – premiering in Sri Lanka at the same time as the world. The film follows a 40-year-old bachelor, Rahul (played by Shah Rukh Khan) who finds himself on an unexpected personal voyage of discovery where he unearths the meaning of love, life, relationships and ultimately – sacrifice. The colourful saris and sets, vibrant and the lush green countrysides of Chennai leave very little to be desired for those that love the aesthetics of South Indian cinematography. Shah Rukh Khan the brazen, brawny, brash hero meets his match in Deepika Padukone whose character is smart-mouthed, strong-willed and yet coy. Her ravishing beauty, piercing brown eyes and sharp tongue have Khan well and truly mesmerised as they travel on the Chennai Express. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the cast also includes Rani Mukerji, Rajinikanth and Priyamanj. Shetty is no amateur when it comes to Indian Films. With his filmography consisting of such blockbusters as Singham (2011), Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006) and All the Best: Fun Begins (2009), this is Shetty’s newest offering of fun but meaningful, stunt-packed cinema.  Shetty’s Eid Bonanza is expected to gain Deepika Padukone glowing praise for her sharp-tongued performance. This will be her third critically acclaimed performance in succession after her star-turns in Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. In a similarly brave reprisal, Khan will surprise his fans with his role as Madrasi because it takes him away from his urban suave image.   The Ceylon Theatres Ltd. is a true pioneer in Sri Lankan cinema.
