The blockbuster Hindi movie ‘Haider,’ a first and an exclusive TV telecast from Hiru TV, will be shown on Saturday (9) at 10 p.m.
Haider is a 2014 Indian crime drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. It stars Shahid Kapoor as the titular protagonist, and co-stars Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon. Irrfan Khan appears in an extended special appearance. The film is a modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet, set amidst the insurgency-hit Kashmir conflicts of 1995 and civilian disappearances. Haider, a poet, returns to Kashmir at the peak of the conflict to seek answers about his father’s disappearance and ends up being tugged into the politics of the state.
Haider was the first Indian film to win the People’s Choice Award at the Rome Film Festival. Among several awards and nominations in India, the film won several National Film Awards: Best Actor, Best Actress in supporting role, Best Male Playback Singer, Best Dialogue, Best choreography, Best Costume Design, and Best Music Direction.
The Sinhala movie ‘Sudu Kaluwara’ will be shown at 10 p.m. on Friday (8). Cast – Sanath Gunathilake, Jayalath Manorathne, Buddhadasa Vithanachchi, Palitha Silva, Jayani Senanayake, Sandeepa Sewmini. Directed by Sudath Rohana.
On Saturday Sinhala movie ‘Niliyakata Pem Kalemi’ will be shown at 12:30 p.m. Cast – Joe Abeywickrama, Sriyani Amarasena, Somi Rathnayake, Manike Attanayake. Directed by Siri Kularathne.
Hindi movie ‘I Me Aur Main’ will be shown at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. I, Me aur Main (English: Me, Myself and I) is a Bollywood romance drama film directed by debut film director Kapil Sharma. It features John Abraham, Prachi Desai and Chitrangada Singh in lead roles.
