The finals of ‘The CBB Annual Inter School Drama Competition’ will be held on the 20th of February at 6.00pm with four leading schools, representing both the public and the private schools competing.
The competition will be held at the British School Auditorium under the patronage of the British High Commissioner James Dauris and will see Gateway International - Rajagiriya, Lyceum International - Panadura, St. Bridget’s Convent - Colombo and the British School in Colombo competing.
The above schools competed with a total of 12 schools in the preliminary round to enter the finals, which was a tough competition, as all the teams competed fiercely.
“There was a variety in the choice of plays ranging from Alan Ayckbourn to Shakespeare to the Greeks. There were also varied interpretations which held the interest of the audience,” said Nirmali Hettiarachi; one of the judges at the semi final.
The event organized by the Council for Business with Britain in association with the British Council aims to raise funds for an ongoing English Language Teacher Training Program, to help rural schools in Sri Lanka.
The annual drama competition also gives an opportunity for the student community to take part in an innovative, creative and stimulating theatrical experience, for a worthy cause.
Finlays, Hilton Residences, Millennium IT, MAS, Avery Dennision, Norfolk Food, Subway, Varna & Wijeya Newspaper supported the event.
