On 19 December, from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m. at Cargills Book City, Majestic City, Sulochana Dissanayake and her team will present “Hoity the Fox”, a tale of how the generosity of three wise village women teach a cunning fox an invaluable lesson. Then on 20 December from 10 to 11 a.m. the Expographic Bookstore in Pelawatte will host “Strange Visitors to the Cat Country”; an adventurous exploration centred on two pioneering rats who bravely travel to the cat country and introduce the universal arts of dance and music to the feline world. These talents will be brought to life by two renowned low country artists who will showcase their dancing, drumming and singing of traditional folk songs.
“Both these tales speak volumes about the values and characteristics that make for better human beings,” says Sulochana. “We use every opportunity to teach important lessons through Sybil Nenda’s timeless stories, and we feel that both these tales have a great deal to offer in terms of moral value. Of course as always they will be presented with puppets, dance, dialogue and music, as well as with the active participation and interaction of our audience, making each reading a truly memorable and enjoyable experience.” Entrance tickets at both venues are priced at Rs. 750.
