Friday matinee: Hindi feature film ‘Queen’ to be screened at Indian Cultural Centre

01Indian Cultural Centre will screen a Bollywood  Hindi feature  film titled ‘Queen’ on Friday 7 July at 3 p.m. at its auditorium at 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.  

Queen tells the story of Rani, an under-confident Punjabi girl from New Delhi who embarks on her pre-planned honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding. As she travels through Europe, she meets new people gaining new experience which helps to discover her own identity. 

The film is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena starring Kangana Ranaut, Rajkumar Rao and Lisa Haydn in lead roles. The cinematography of the movie was done by Siddharth Diwan and Bobby Singh. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi. At the 60th Film fare Awards ceremony, the Queen won leading six awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress for Kangana Ranaut. At the 62nd National Film Awards ceremony the film won the Best Hindi Film and Best Actress awards.

The film is in Hindi with English subtitles and will run for 2 hours and 26 minutes.
