Best Drama –‘She who says yes. She who says no’
The Inter Faculty English Drama Competition of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts was held on 23 January at the New Theatre of the Faculty of Dance and Drama. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Ariyarathne Kaluarachchi, Deans of the Faculties, Academic and Non-Academic staff members graced this occasion.
The audience witnessed four short plays, namely; ‘She who says yes. She who says no’, ‘The lost hope’, ‘The game’ and ‘The deal’. The award for the Best Drama was won by the adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s ‘She who says yes. She who says no’ and the Best Actress and Best Actor awards were won by Manoj Asiri Dambarage and Sayuri Mahawatta from the drama ‘The lost hope’. The award for the Best Supporting Actress was won by the drama ‘She who says yes. She who says no’ while the award for the Best Supporting Actor was by the drama ‘The Deal’.
This event was funded by the HETC project and organised by the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts with the prime intention of enhancing the Soft skills and English language skills of the UVPA undergraduates.
