At the head table – Festival Director Asoka Handagama, Dr. Dharmasena Pathiraja, DGOSL Chairman Vimukthi Jayasundara, DGOSL Secretary Anuruddha Jayasinghe, DGOSL Treasurer Saman Weeraman and Boodee Keerthisena
The Directors’ Guild of Sri Lanka (DGOSL) recently held a sponsor briefing session at The Kingsbury Hotel for the potential sponsors and to the sponsors who contributed to the International Film Festival of Colombo (IFFCOLOMBO) launched in September last year.
The IFFCOLOMBO, which was a huge success, showcased a collection of acclaimed feature, documentaries and short films from all over the world. Its fringe events included master-classes, public forums, music evenings and exhibitions. The festival took place at the centre of Colombo’s art and culture hub, giving its guests access to the city’s best art venues and cultural landmarks.
Being the first of its kind, organising such an event had been truly challenging in every way. Yet it was bravely and successfully taken up by DGOSL as the festival marked its glory in the history of Sri Lankan cinema and attracted an appreciative eye from the global arena.
With its overwhelming success in the last year the DGOSL is planning to upscale this year’s festival, to be held in this November. The sponsor briefing was to brief the success of the last year’s event, importance of continuing it as a major international cultural event in the country and to request the sponsors to contribute to it while exploiting the communication opportunities associated with it.
