Land Rover welcomes world champions on their return to Sri Lanka

The Old Joes’ Choir, upon their return to Sri Lanka as world champions, were felicitated at St. Joseph’s College by automotive partner Land Rover.
The Old Joes’ Choir (OJC), which comprises of past students of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, recently took part in the eighth World Choir Games held in Riga, Latvia. The games featured 27,000 participants from 74 countries and over 465 choirs from around the world.
The OJC competed in two categories namely the Barbershop Choirs and the Musica Sacra (Sacred Music) with accompaniment. The choir won Gold and was crowned as World Champions in the Barbershop choir category having accumulated a total of 91 points and received a standing ovation.
The Old Joes’ Choir was also able to secure a silver medal in the Musica Sacra with accompaniment category scoring a total of 68.13 points.
“The Old Joes’ Choir have certainly set a very high standard for all choirs and shown the world that Sri Lanka has astounding talent. They are the World Champions in the Babershop category. Land Rover is extremely proud to have an association with ‘the best in the world’,” said SML Frontier Automotive Managing Director Sheran Fernando.
Land Rover congratulates the OJC on their great achievement and will continue to support the choir in all their upcoming endeavours.
