Pic by Upul Abayasekara     For the consecutive 10th year the francophone film festival better known as Bonjour Cinema will go on boards between 26-29 March in Colombo and Kandy. All films will be screened free of charge with the show times being 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Organised by the High Commission of Canada, the Embassy of France, the Embassy of Switzerland, Alliance Française de Kotte, Alliance Française de Kandy, the Embassy of Vietnam, the Embassy of Belgium in India and the Consulate of Tunisia the film festival will be screened in association with the National Film Corporation (NFC) and Agenda 14. A collection of diversified movies produced by the member countries of the International Organisation of Francophone (OIF) will be screened at NFC and Alliance France de Kandy. The opening ceremony will be held at NFC on 26 March at 6 p.m. and the Swiss movie ‘Sam’ will be screened in the presence of its scriptwriter Georges Guerreiro. He will also conduct workshop meetings on Friday 27 March from 10 a.m. at the Digital Film Academy located at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, 100, Sri Lanka Foundation Road, Independence Square, Colombo 07. The Kandy leg of the workshop will be conducted on Sunday 29 March from 10 a.m. at Alliance Française de Kandy, 640/2 Peradeniya Road, Kandy. Over the past few years the festival has become an increasingly popular event among local and expat movie lovers. With the idea of highlighting Sri Lankan filmmakers and productions, a short film made by a Sri Lankan Director will be screened before each feature film.
