Record-breaking multiple Academy Award winner ‘La La Land’ at Majestic and Empire

Hollywood blockbuster ‘La La Land’ is now showing at Majestic Cineplex 10.15, 1.15, 4.15, 7.15, Fri/Sat 10.15 p.m. and Empire Cineplex 1.30, 4.30, 7.30, Fri/Sat 10.30 p.m., Sat/Sun 10.30 a.m.

La La Land – A 2016 American romantic drama musical film written and directed by Damien Chazelle, stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a musician and an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles.27-4

‘La La Land’ received critical acclaim and was regarded as one of the best films of 2016. Critics praised Chazelle’s screenplay and direction, Gosling and Stone’s performances, Justin Hurwitz’s score and the film’s musical numbers. It has grossed over $ 432 million worldwide on a production budget of $ 30 million.

The film won in every category it was nominated for at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, with a record-breaking seven wins, and received 11 nomination films at the 70th British Academy Film Awards, winning five. It received 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, tying the record for most nominations with Titanic (1997) and All About Eve (1950), and won the awards for Best Director, Best Actress (Stone), Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (City of Stars) and Best Production Design.

Struggling actress Mia (Emma Stone) and aspiring jazz pianist Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind romance as they both pursue their dreams in Los Angeles. As success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. Damien Chazelle (Whiplash) wrote and directed this musical love story, which co-stars John Legend, J.K. Simmons, and Rosemarie DeWitt.
