The Amazing Spider-Man 2, anticipated to be one of the biggest blockbuster hits of the year, will be released in Sri Lanka by Ceylon Theatres today, 2 May, the same day as its worldwide release.
The highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster is sure to be an action-packed premiere at the Majestic City Platinum Cinema in Colombo and the cinema in Jaffna which was recently opened. Spider-Man fans have the opportunity to spot and photograph the film’s main characters, Spider-Man and Electro as they make appearances around Colombo in the run-up to the premiere.
By uploading their photos onto www.facebook.com/CeylonTheatres fans stand a chance to win free tickets to watch the Amazing Spider-Man in Colombo. Ceylon Theatres has also partnered with KFC who will serve as the official restaurant partner for the screening of the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The Amazing Spider-Man is an American superhero film featuring the loved Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. A film by Columbia Pictures, a Sony company the Amazing Spider-Man 2 was directed by Marc Webb and is the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man which was released in 2012. The start studded cast in the film include Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.
In the prelude to the film’s premiere, Sony Pictures Entertainment stated: “We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important conflict has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that his greatest battle is about to begin. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has already swung to the top of the UK box office and Ceylon Theatres is anticipating that the Superhero sequel will be a hit in Sri Lanka as well.
