Lakshan Seneviratne’s very first book, which is titled ‘The Best Thing Ever’ was launched recently.
The event featured Parliamentarians as Chief Guest/Guest of Honours, including Chief Minister of the Western Province Isura Devapriyathe, Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Jeewan Kumaratunga and Hirunika Premachandra.
Seneviratne also had an opportunity of meeting Rosy Senanayake the Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office.
At the age of 19 he got this book published. While being a student at Wycherley International School, writing had always been his hobby and now a lifestyle. Seneviratne appreciated that his school encourages students to visit the library and read anything they like.
This launch has given him something to be proud of since writing had been his passion from a young age. His determination drove this book to publication after years of struggle.
S. Godage & Brothers Ltd. is the printer and distributor. As the story captivated the editorial of Godage Publications they offered to bear all costs of printing, selling and distributing the publication.
Seneviratne is thankful to his father Wijitha, mother Chandima and his loving brother Sujith and entire family and friends for their love and support.
“Be yourself, don’t let anyone ever tell you that you cannot achieve your dreams just because society does not understand you; the most important thing in people’s creativity is that you honour your creativity and that you do not ever ignore it,” he said. Seneviratne was born to a business family and never lost faith and hope despite being on a path that had never been taken by anyone else in his family. He stood on his own feet and wrote this book during his leisure time and throughout the nights and his determination drove this book to publication.
