Celebrate the start of summer in true reggae style with E FM, as Sri Lanka’s lifestyle station gives away free VIP passes to the highly anticipated ‘The Wailers Live in Concert’, organised by Mainstage, which will be held on 19 May, from 7 p.m. onwards, at Paradise Beach, Mount Lavinia Hotel.
To win free VIP passes, listeners have to register via SMS for the Bob Marley ‘Sing-Off’, from 11 May onwards. E FM Radio Personalities (RPs) will randomly start calling listeners back and prompting them to choose a Wailers tune of their preference. Once the song is chosen they must attempt to sing along live on radio. Considering the popularity of this legendary band, singing a few bars of any of the 17 hits that are on the ‘Legend’ album will not only be a fun and interactive experience for the listener but also for the non-participants!
And, as an added bonus, if you turn out to be vocally gifted, you will stand a chance to win an exclusive, one-of-a-kind guitar autographed by The Wailers alongside the VIP invites.
“The Wailers are an iconic reggae band stretching back to a time when the world was a more hopeful place, which comes out in their hit songs. Our listeners at E FM will no doubt love a glimpse of that simpler, more spiritual time. And we, as Sri Lanka’s lifestyle station, are proud to partner with Mainstage in bringing back the themes associated with the peace-loving Rastafari movement, even if it is for only one day,” said E FM Programs Director Mark Kross.
The original backing band of Reggae legend Bob Marley, The Wailers continued his mission of revolution through peace and love following his death in 1981. Importantly, the band is responsible for some of the best loved chart topping hits of all time, with ‘One Love’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, ‘Is This Love’, ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ and ‘Jamming’ in the 1960s and 1970s, and ‘Could You Be Loved’, ‘Redemption Song’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’ and ‘Iron Lion Zion’ in the 1980s and 1990s.
