To succeed in a digital world, humans need digital literacy, skills and definitely a digital mindset. And in the current world we live in, the focus of the finance function is shifting from being based on costs to being based on organisational value and purpose. The finance function will no longer be evaluated on how costly it is to run, instead will be judged on the added value it brings to the organisation and wider community.
In an ever-evolving technological world, finance professionals need to have digital skills and a mindset to stay relevant. To work in a digital environment, they need to have the confidence and capability in using digital technology to complete tasks, basic digital literacy and the technology know-how. The nature of change that is taking place is unpredictable and its pace is very fast. The result is much complexity – and being able to deal with complexity is important for finance professionals.
‘Managing Finance in a Digital World’ is a five-week online course, commencing on 17 October, based on a case study with insight from an industry expert each week and certified by The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (‘The Association’ – the unified voice of AICPA and CIMA). It examines the roles that finance plays in organisations and why, whilst covering the technologies that define and drive the digital world, as well as the implications of using them. Industry experts, including; Shamal Dubai Group CFO Paul Gyles, FCMA, CGMA; IBM Africa Financial Controller Similola Osoba, ACMA, CGMA; Canadian Organisational Specialist Anna Garleff; Canadian Tech Entrepreneur Raj Wanniapa; and Sara Futura Group VP Finance Vinesh Singh, FCMA, CGMA, will be a part of this course.
