The Association of Compliance Officers of Banks in Sri Lanka (ACOB), as part of their stakeholder initiatives for 2019, recently successfully concluded the Compliance Quiz 2019, themed ‘Compliance at the Speed of Thought’ at the Kings Court, Cinnamon Lakeside from 5.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

The ACOB is the apex compliance body for banks in Sri Lanka. It provides a forum to discuss compliance related issues and to share knowledge and experience among the compliance officers of banks in order to promote a strong compliance culture.

The ACOB also works closely with Central Bank (CBSL) to improve compliance standards in the industry. One of the main objectives for organising this event is to enhance knowledge within the banking community on the regulatory framework applicable to banks in Sri Lanka and other governance, risk and compliance aspects. ACOB believes this event will contribute towards uplifting compliance standards within the industry and also promoting goodwill and fellowship among bankers.

Central Bank Governor Dr Indrajit Coomaraswamy was the Chief Guest and Additional Director – Economic Research Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara was the Quiz Master for the Compliance Quiz 2019.

The competition was open to all licenced commercial banks and licenced specialised banks in Sri Lanka. It consisted of five rounds of which three were dedicated to regulatory aspects and two rounds on current affairs, sports and entertainment. Winners of the quiz were awarded attractive cash prizes of Rs. 100,000 for first place, Rs. 75,000 for second, and Rs. 50,000 for third. Winners of each round were also recognised.
