APB 32nd convention to shed key insights to ‘Sprinting ahead with agility’

The 32nd anniversary convention of the Association of Professional Bankers (APB) will be held on 18 January 2022 at the Grand Ballroom, Cinnamon Grand Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The theme of the convention this year will be ‘Sprinting ahead with agility’.

Established in 1988, APB – Sri Lanka has been the most representative of banking professionals in the island and the annual convention has functioned as a forum that brings together leading personalities in business administration and is the foremost event on transformational issues in the global financial services industry.

APB will have the honour of having Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the Chief Guest for this event. 

The keynote address of this much-awaited forum will be delivered by International Finance Corporation Country Officer for Sri Lanka and Maldives Victor Navaranjan Antonypillai. 

Many other eminent speakers will speak on four of the most important topics that are relevant to the industry and also to this year’s theme.

The timely topic of “Accelerating Transitions to Sustainable Business Models” will be addressed by Dreamron Group of Companies Group Managing Director/CEO Dr. Kishu Gomes, Global Technology Executive Madu Ratnayake, ICTA Chief Digital Economy Officer Anura De Alwis, Sri Lanka Police Senior DIG Crimes and Traffic Dr. Ajith Rohana, and TechCERT CEO Dileepa Lathsara, will address the learned audience on the topic “The Ultimate Disrupter”. 

Dialog Axiata PLC Group Chief Customer Officer Sandra De Zoysa, ICTA Chairman Oshada Senanayake, and Sri Lanka Customs Deputy Director Legal Sudattha Silva, will speak on the “Digital Journey of the Country” whilst Hatton National Bank PLC Deputy General Manager/Chief Transformation Officer Chiranthi Cooray, Maliban Group CEO Ravi Jayawardene, and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Group Chief Human Resource Officer Isuru Tillakawardana, will speak on “The Workforce Strategy that Changes Everything”.

This forum will be attended by the crème de la crème of the banking industry of the country as it will help them in widening their horizons and enable them to make valuable contributions to their respective organisations and to the industry and society as a whole.

APB is the premier professional body for bankers in Sri Lanka, with over 2,000 bankers holding membership, including CEOs and members of the senior management of banks. Some of the principal objectives of the Association are to promote and facilitate studies in the field of banking and allied subjects, plan and organise teaching and training programs in the field of banking, safeguard the common interest of the profession, promote fellowship and understanding among members of the association.
