APB 33rd Annual Convention to share key insights to ‘Resilience in the VUCA World’

The 33rd Annual Convention of the Association of Professional Bankers this year on the theme of ‘Resilient and Adaptable – Way forward for Banking’ will be held on 20 February at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo.

This year, the convention will consist of four sessions and they will be on timely topics selected in line with the ‘theme’. The sessions will be conducted by eminent speakers followed by a panel discussion.

The first session would deliberate on the topic ‘Resilience in the VUCA world’ and the speaker would be Ruchin Goyal – the Managing Director and Senior Partner of Boston Consulting Group of India. Ruchin being a member of the BCG will bring his vast knowledge and expertise across many industries including, Finance, Business Transformation, Operations, Insurance and People Strategy to the session to discuss on how the banking industry should be adoptable to a world filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. The banking community will be able to get insights of his experience that would in return lead the professional bankers in Sri Lanka to be resilient in this volatile economy. 

The session will have a panel discussion with yet another group of panellists. Jonathan Alles – the Managing Director of Hatton National Bank Plc and Ravin Basnayake – the Country Head of CitiBank N.A. Colombo will be joined by the Moderator Abhinav Bansal – the Managing Director Partner of Boston Consulting Group of India. His expertise and knowledge surpass many aspects of Banking; Risk Management and Compliance, Financial Institutions, Regulatory Compliance, Payments and Transaction Banking, Retail Banking, Business Transformation, Customer Insights, Digital, Technology, and Data, Innovation Strategy and Delivery and International Business. 

With a mix of local expertise and international exposure of these two eminent personalities, BCG is expected to create a very important opening session for this year’s convention of APB. The panel discussion followed by the opening session is going to be an interesting discussion forum where the expert knowledge gained through various consultancy assignments by the moderator and the panellists will touch upon many interesting aspects of resilience that is much needed by the Lankan banks today.
