The Association of Professional Bankers (APB) recently held its new Bank Coordinators induction ceremony at the iconic Lotus Tower, in Colombo.

This significant annual event is a cornerstone of the APB calendar, offering a vital platform for networking and collaboration among banking professionals.

During the ceremony, the APB President, Secretary General, and the Chairmen of the four main APB Subcommittees—Publications, Continuous Professional Development, Membership, and Special Events—presented the planned activities for the 2024/2025 council year to the new coordinators.

The APB’s affairs are overseen by an Executive Council, which consists of seven Office Bearers and 10 elected Council Members representing the member banks. Additionally, the Immediate Past President serves on an ‘Ex Officio’ basis. Given the limited size of the Council, APB appoints bank coordinators from each member bank to assist in organising and executing activities that benefit the broader banking community.

These bank coordinators are essential in maintaining a robust connection between the APB Council and its members. They ensure effective communication and engagement, represent APB within their respective banks, and actively participate in the four main subcommittees. Their role includes keeping their bank’s members informed about APB activities and gathering feedback to shape future initiatives aimed at supporting the professional development of bankers. The induction ceremony at Lotus Tower underscored the APB’s commitment to fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment for banking professionals, ensuring that the association continues to thrive and meet the needs of its members.”
