Ajith to take up CEO role at CALT from April

Executive Director/Founder Shareholder Ajith Fernando will take up the CEO role at the newly listed Capital Alliance Ltd. (CALT) with effect from 1 April.

Fernando holds 21.7 million shares or a 6.6% stake in CALT. Capital Alliance Holdings Ltd. owns a 79.4% stake in CALT whilst prior to the IPO was it was 90.76%.

Fernando is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom (FCMA) and has a MA in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo. 

He counts for over 30 years’ experience in the capital markets of Sri Lanka. He currently serves as a Director of the Capital Alliance Group, which he founded in 2000, and includes Capital Alliance Ltd., (a primary dealer for Government Securities, appointed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and stock broker/stock dealer (debt) licensed by the Securities and Exchange commission of Sri Lanka), Capital Alliance Securities Ltd., (a trading member of the Colombo Stock Exchange), Capital Alliance Investments Ltd. (Fund manager licensed by the Securities and Exchange commission of Sri Lanka), and Capital Alliance Partners Ltd.

He also serves on the board of BetaOne Investments Ltd. (an Investment Bank in Bangladesh), and on the board of CAL Securities Ltd. (a Stock Broking arm of CAL in Bangladesh). In addition, he serves on the Board of Ceylon Tea Brokers PLC (CTB), listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange, and many other private companies.
